Fasting as a method has been used for a long time, but it is only in recent years that there has been an increased focus and increased knowledge about what benefits fasting actually gives us.

Fasting is a way of preparing for health through simple tricks and methods In the course we go through a bit of the history behind fasting as a method, why fasting is a good tool, what health benefits we can achieve through fasting, how fasting can be carried out and various considerations that should be taken.

The course is suitable for most people who struggle with various health challenges such as obesity, diabetes, mild depression, stress, high blood pressure and more. There has been a lot of research on the topic in recent years, and there are promising results for a number of diseases and ailments, including those mentioned here, as well as autoimmune diseases and Alzheimer’s.

As mentioned, there are many different ways to fast. I believe in a simple approach where one should not count nutrients or control the intake of calories based on which day it is. The goal is for fasting to become part of good living habits and for fasting to become a natural part of everyday life.

In the course, I talk about the importance of good preparatory work. To be able to fast regularly and to ensure that the body gets the nutrients it needs, the first step should be a diet based on raw materials, enough good fat and protein. Dette kostholdet vil gi et nødvendig og skikkelig fundament for å leve med kortere spisevindu og innslag av lengre faster. The blood sugar will stabilise, and you avoid large peaks and troughs which will cause challenges with sweet tooth and “wolf hunger”.

By fasting, you will also get more in touch with what the body needs. Det blir mer naturlig å søke ordentlig mat og gode råvarer. It becomes more natural to seek proper food and good ingredients. The body has stores of glycogen for a couple of days, and the longest fasts I’m talking about last 2-3 days. There is therefore no question of longer fasts in this course, although I will briefly mention cases where this may be appropriate to try.

Research and clinics show that men get a long way by simply having a shorter eating window, while women should take into account the menstrual cycle and/or the cycle of hormones throughout the month to ensure the health benefits of fasting. Based on health problems and situation, different lengths of fasting will also be relevant to try. I give you an introduction to these and how you should proceed. I also talk a bit about how you can never fail in a fast. Life has periods that are more demanding than others, and fasting should always be something that adds something to you, provides increased energy, increased mental presence and a greater absence of pain and ailments.
